Problems with Lay the Draw
The most obvious problem with Lay the Draw is that the match finishes goalless.
Losing 0-0
If the final score is 0-0 you will lose here whatever happens (unless there has been a sending off which has given you a chance of an exit - but you're unlikely to take this at the time).
The wrong goals at the wrong time
The second commonly occurring problem with Lay the Draw is that the wrong side may score first. Sometimes if the underdog scores first and early in the fixture (particularly if they are playing away from home) the markets will decide that a draw is actually more likely. Your expected profit won't materialise for some time - until quite a lot of the match is over. If during that time the favourite equalises then you're in a spot of betting trouble.
Equalisers
The third regular problem with Lay the Draw occurs when a side equalises almost immediately after going behind. When this happens you often don't get time to green out your bet with a Back because the market hasn't properly reestablished itself after being suspended when the first goal was knocked in the back of the net.
Late goals
The fourth and most agonising problem with laying the draw is that many matches are decided by late goals. When a match is tied after 75 minutes you might expect the odds on a draw to be something around 2.0, meaning you have a chance to withdraw from an unsuccessful bet with around half the loss than if you ran the match through to the end without any further goals being scored. But every lay the draw football trader has had instances where they have walked away from a losing bet only to have a goal scored a minute or two later that would made their losing lay the draw bet a winning one. Very frustrating indeed!
Is lay the draw too popular for winning betting?
There's a fifth problem with this football betting system caused by its popularity. So many people play Lay the Draw that many exponents think it has a distorting effect on the prices available, both at the start of a match and also in the immediate aftermath of a goal being scored when all the Lay the Draw devotees are trying to close out their exposure with a back bet.So with all these problems to overcome, are there any keys to picking winning bets using a lay the draw system?
